Amelia Thompson was born in Long Beach and is a graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music where she studied choral music. She is a versatile and sought after collaborative pianist working with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, National Children's Chorus, Long Beach Camerata Singers, LA Master Chorale - Youth Chorus LA, Vox Femina of Los Angeles, and the Pasadena Conservatory of Music. She excels in many styles, combinations, and is consistently described as a conscientious collaborator.
At present, she holds the Principal Accompanist position with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. In 2023 she made her solo debut at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Disney PRIDE with the chorus. During her tenure with the chorus, Miss Thompson has accompanied many guest artists in concert with GMCLA such as Wayne Brady, Shanice, Latrice Royale, Bruce Vilanch, and Mary Bridget Davies, to name a few. Miss Thompson also holds the Collaborative Artist position at Long Beach Renaissance High School of the Arts and is the pianist at First Church of Christ, Scientist in Beverly Hills.
Also an accomplished vocalist, Miss Thompson is a former USC Chamber Singer. She has sung with Grammy Award-Winning ensemble Tonality and can be heard on their 2019 album Sing About It. She has also sung backup vocals for artists such as Barry Manilow, reggae artist Ky-enie King, and the Rolling Stones. At present, Miss Thompson performs with the Grammy Award-Winning Pacific Chorale in Orange County as well as freelance singing in LA and Orange County. Her extensive experience as a choral singer gives her a unique perspective that she brings to her role as a collaborative pianist.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Miss Thompson is a Polynesian dancer currently studying at Hālau Hula Ke 'Alohi 'O Ilikai under the guidance of Kumu Hula Kapinao'kēhaulani Gabriel. Miss Thompson is a dedicated performer in all areas of her life and pours her heart into everything she does.
